With my first post to my first blog I wanted to inroduce myself to anyone who may end up reading once, twice, or be a consistent follower. Well yesterday I had a life changing experience that sort of helps me sum up what type of person I am and what has shaped my life. I was granted full custody of my daughter yesterday and for the first time I will be the number one provider in my daughters life. Now it's uncommon enough that a father wins sole custody of his child/children. So when that happens for a father who was 13 years old when the child is born is even more strange!
I remember how bad I felt when I first heard about my daughter being born. I just finished my last Pop Warner football season. I was a star athlete at the time in 3 different sports and had a life of promising dreams ahead. All of that (in my mind) was shattered when I found out that I was a teen father. But the one thing that sticks out in my head is what my mother said to me. She said "This doesnt change anything! You will still go to college and graduate and I'll do all I can to ensure that happens." At the time I couldn't see that happening but through high school and college and all of the ups and downs my mother and the rest of my family stood by me and made sure I could be in my current position. They are the reason I have the opportunity to raise my daughter for the next 6 years and put her in a better position than I was when I was her age.
Now comes the time where I take on new challenges and grow to new levels in life. I've realized sacrifice is what makes all relationships grow to new heights. I'm prepared to make the sacrifice that all parents do by putting their children in their proper place, first!
So this blog will serve as a release for me and a source of strong opinions and curiosity for all that read. I have many interests and I'm grateful for the opportunity to have the forum to express all I feel, know and think. Anything from parenting (obviously lol), sports, politics, health, investing, entreprenuership, and relationships will be discussed. I hope that this will be a place you can come to laugh, cry, smile, and get mad! Either way I hope you enjoy and share your opinions good, bad or indifferent. Love is love and I appreciate it in all ways. Soooooooo.................
